Brim's Annual and Sustainability Report 2024 - a few words

Brim's operations are solid. The company's employees source the available catch and process it in a profitable manner, and the company has been successful in bringing its products to increasingly valuable markets.

Brim builds its present and future on the wealth of nature and man. In 2021, Brim's board set clear goals in the field of environmental affairs, and in 2022 an environmental and climate policy was formulated with the goal of creating value, in harmony with the environment and society.

Brim is a multicultural society and, among other things, the company offers employees Icelandic lessons in the workplace. Brim also emphasizes the excellent skills of its employees and systematically invests in their education and training.

I hope that the government will heed the call from the fishing industry for increased dialogue, if only to increase predictability and operational security. It is for the good of the industry and society as a whole. There is no dispute about that.

Guðmundur Kristjánsson, CEO

E1 – Climate Change

Real and transition risks due to climate change are discussed based on two scenarios and in the short and long term. Brim's climate policy and actions contribute to achieving Iceland's commitments to the Paris Agreement, but increased predictability in energy supply is necessary to make further investments in energy transitions realistic.

E4 – Biodiversity and Ecosystems

The marine industry has a lot to do to protect biological diversity, and Brim's environmental and climate policy takes this into account. It is important that the ecosystem approaches of the sectors work together and form a single, coordinated ecosystem approach. Brim emphasizes that policymaking in this area should be based on the principles of protection and sustainable use, and expresses a willingness to engage with the government on implementation.

S1 – Own Workforce

Brim's human resources policies are aligned with the implementation of the CSRD framework. Brim had a total of 635 full-time employees in 2024, representing 24 nationalities. The number of recorded accidents has decreased, while the use of the accident registration system has increased. Emphasis is placed on a mix of on-site and online training.

G1 – Business Conduct

Brim's procurement policy, code of conduct and other policies aim to support business practices and a corporate culture that promote sustainable development. There are rules in place that address corruption and whistleblower protection. In 2024, there were no confirmed or reported cases of corruption or bribery within the company.
